IN TUNE MAGAZINE: A Musically Diverse Newcomer From Nigeria Storms Up The US Pop Charts

Dapo Torimiro may be an unfamiliar name, but if his current hot streak continues, that won’t be the case for long. The Nigerian-born artist – who’s been compared to Stevie Wonder and Seal as a performer – got his first big break last fall by placing the song “Quickly,” a duet featuring John Legend and Brandy, on Legend’s current album Evolver. On the heels of that release came David Archuleta’s self-titled debut album, featuring Dapo’s “Running.” Brandy’s album Human, released in December, also featured a Torimiro song, “Torn Down.” In additino to working on a solo album and doing film scores (Christmas at Water’s Edge), Torimiro expects to have songs on future releases form Fantasic and Elliott Yamin as well.
